Last night, the label led by Tatsuya Kimura & Sanae Yoshida presented their latest collection at Shibuya Hikarie Hall. The crowd was young and edgy, and the pre-show even toyed with our perception of realities. Is DHL a fashion-meme, a fashion brand or a corporate sponsor with a smart sense of marketing? Probably all of these, as the logistics coolest brand on Earth was heavily supporting the pre-show activity.
The collection itself was a straight flight to London, and offered quite a few loops in time, referencing Vivienne Westwood’s punk scene through to Californian shoegazing, and even hinted at the 2000s fluo rock culture of Bloc Party and co.
For sub-culture experts, the show was a treat. The work of Discovered is often more of styling than of tailoring, but places the duo of designers into the “must-watch” category, as we expect their cultural acumen to deliver even more interesting collections in the future.
Maybe a good way to sum up a show called “Nu Gazer” would be to say this was The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. We captured the finale on Instagram. Scroll down to also peek a few looks shared by Mythography, the footwear label who provided the soles.
