A few weeks ago, Tokyo Fashion Award selected 6 Winners, among which the brand DIGAWEL, which shows quite an interesting aesthetic.
DIGAWEL was founded in 2006 by Kohei Nishimura. Interestingly, the collections of DIGAWEL are quite unisex, and womenswear was made by slightly resizing the garments. Still relatively little heard-of internationally, the label deserves recognition and will be showing its collection in Paris, next January.
DIGAWEL collections have a way to be both delicate and bold. Pure minimal inspirations often clash beautifully with bold contemporary flashes. The designs somehow reconcile digital impressions with very analogue textures.
Here are a few shots, excerpts from their lookbook for Spring Summer 18.
Tokyo Fashion Award is a fashion prize that selects 6 brands from Tokyo with the aim to connect them to the international market and support their global expansion. The 6 selected designers are then offered a booth to showcase their collection at “showroom.tokyo”, during Paris Fashion Week.
